Why was I charged again after I already paid recently? (Authorization hold vs Settlement)

If two entries appear on a bank statement for a single transaction, it usually means the bank placed a temporary authorization hold before settling the final charge.

What happened

  • Authorization: When a payment is first made, the bank places a temporary hold on the funds to confirm they are available. Nothing leaves the account at this point.
  • Settlement: The temporary hold becomes a completed transaction. This is the single real charge.

This is simply how banks process and display card payments, and it does not mean the payment was taken twice. The Empacer team can also check the payment records to confirm that only one charge was made.

Still seeing two charges?

If the bank statement still shows two separate settled amounts after a few business days, send a screenshot of the statement to support@empacer.com, and the team will investigate.

If any issues come up regarding duplicate pending charges, reach out at support@empacer.com or submit a ticket to the Support Center.
